Cheyenne Mountain State Park Colorado Springs
Cheyenne park is the newest addition to the Colorado state park system. The project was made possible with a joint venture between the state and the city of Colorado Springs. Each partner chipped in roughly $1,000,000. Approximately 2000 acres were made available for park development.
The park has twenty miles of trails to hike and bike, and sixty-one campsites. Ten sites are walk-in tent sites and the remainder is dedicated to RV camping. The campground has coin-operated showers and laundry.
One, of many outdoor activities offered at Cheyenne mountain campgrounds is geocaching. This popular pastime involves park staff hiding treasure caches in various areas of the park. The coordinates are then logged at geocaching.org. Participants can download the coordinates and search the park to find the treasures. Geocaching is a fun way for the entire family to explore the park's trail system. If you need a GPS unit, the park has units available for rent.
