United States of America
We all live in Milwaukee, WI and it was a last minute trip so we were actually running out of time.
Finding the camping site is most difficult thing to do in such last minute trips. Finding the right one purely depends on your luck and the access to the right information at right time.
Usually for deciding a campground for camping the US the first place to look at is at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website.
You get good rates and best campsites at State Parks but you need to plan it well in advance. They get occupied very quickly. All of those which were close to Wisconsin Dells were not available.Next stop was Craigslist, if someone might offer a last minute deal. River Bay Campground and Marina was the one we almost finalized from our end but we were 10 minutes late in making the final reservation phone call.
Review of K and L campgrounds
After all the phone calls and research we finally set our tents at K and L campgrounds. They offered the best rates and facilities. The reservations were done on phone. They accept only cash. It is simply based on trust. No credit card information is taken. They require a minimum of two nights stay. Check in time is 3pm and check out is 11am for cabins and 1pm for tents. All this worked just right for us.
The drive to the campground was very scenic. When we reached the campground we were sure we made the right decision. It's a big campground. Has a swimming pool, good bathrooms with hot water, showers, children's play area. They also have a small bar and store. You can get fire wood, milk and some basic snacks there. If you are a group of 6 or more families planning to live in tents then you can request for their island. It is a secluded area surrounded by water on three sides and is beautiful. It has water and electrical connection too. You get a little more privacy if you stay there. The fire ring is bigger than the normal fire rings at campsites. Overall it is a good site for some family fun. I recommend this for someone who is looking for a quiet and peaceful place for camping in addition to keep kids busy with loads of options to entertain them. Enjoy a day at Wisconsin Dells water parks and then come back and enjoy at the campsite and relax. Their website has most of the information including pictures and site map.
