Spend some time enjoying nature in Rusk, Texas. This east Texas hamlet is surrounded by woodlands and bordered by multiple wineries. Plan a visit to the Texas State Railroad site and ride an old-fashined steam train through a wildlife preserve. The train makes frequent stops to allow passengers to explore the nature trails and traverse the longest footbridge in the United States. The Heritage Center of Cherokee County features historical displays and special events.

Country Estates is nestled among a wooded area with tall pine trees. Although you can pitch a tent or pull in an RV to a private area, you are not too far from modern amenities. Country estates features internet access, a bathhouse, recreational center and laundry facilities. Refresh and recharge on the campgrounds hiking trails or at the fishing pond. Pack a pair of binoculars and take a walk on the bird watching path and spot dozens of varieties of native species. The campground features grassy campsite areas, concrete pads for RV's and convenience store within walking distance. Leashed pets are permitted on-site.

The Texas State Railroad Campground offers visitors the chance to stay along the historic railroad trail and ride a train through the wooded areas of east Texas. The facility offers 70 camping sites complete with water and electrical hookups. Each camping area features a charcoal grill, fire ring and picnic table. The campground store offers snacks, firewood and convenience items. A 15 acre lake boasts trout and bass fishing opportunities. Stretch your muscles on the nature trail, basketball and tennis courts or the horseshoe pit. A playground area entertains the children while the adults relax in the shade with views of the lake. Cabin rentals and leashed pets are permitted.
