Camping 101

Camping is a family tradition worth keeping every summer. The beauty of Mother Nature is an experience all children should enjoy more often.

Summer is almost over and school will be starting soon. Camping trips are not over yet. The fall season is a perfect time to camp. Why? Mother Nature is changing and preparing for winter. The colored leaves and cool weather make for an ideal camping season.

Do you want to take a weekend trip with the family? Most camping sites require reservations, others do not. Be sure to check out this article before heading out on your family trip.

Create a checklist. A checklist for camping may seem silly and not worth doing. But this step will keep you organized, on track and on time. The checklist will make sure you have everything you need for your camping trip.

Pack early. The earlier you pack, the less stressed you will be when you are ready to leave for your outdoors trip. Packing can be split up into categories.

Bring a compass. A compass will keep you from becoming lost in the woods in the middle of nowhere. If you forget to pack a compass, don't worry, you will be fine. Leaving a trail of pebbles can help to guide you back to the campsite.

Stay safe. Mother Nature is beautiful, and she can turn on you in a split second. You have to be on guard for anything that can happen. Safety doesn't have to be boring. It can be fun. Just use your creativity and imagination. Do not go out wandering alone at night.

Supplies. Supplies are not just food. They are toiletries, paper plates and plastic utensils. You should always pack more than you actually need. It is always best to have more than it is to run out. I'd rather have extra than be completely out. Flashlights and matches are very important to have on deck. Many campers forget to pack extra batteries and matches.

Change of clothes. Children are constantly getting dirty. Accidents are a big part of life. Messy is a child's middle name. Extra sets of clothing will come in handy whether you think so or not. Packing more outfits than what you intend to wear is a necessity, especially if children will be on the trip with you.

Camping is fun for the whole family. Outdoor adventures can bring laughter and silly memories for you and your family to cherish. Do not waste a single moment.
