Bring the traditional camping gear like you always would because this is going to be needed. You will want to pack a few additional things because you are dealing with a slightly different environment than you are used to.
Bring a brush and a broom. This is needed to deal with the sand. It's going to get everywhere. Having a broom and a brush will let you wipe it off and clear out common areas a bit better so you won't have to have sand against every surface the whole time you are camping.
Have a couple extra tarps. These provide you with relief from the sand. Spread them out and sit or lay on them. Use your brush and broom to clear these areas off.
Since the beach is near the water, be sure you protect yourself from the bugs. Mosquito netting products are some of the best to bring, giving you a physical barrier from the bugs.
There are two things you need to do for safety that are important.
Camp far from the water. You don't want to be right next to it. The water will rise at different parts of the day and you could put your group into danger sleeping too close.
Always wear your shoes on the beach and keep your feet protected. Many people camping use glass bottles, which get broken on the camp grounds. This glass can be inside the sand which can hurt you if you step on it. Keep your feet covered just in case.
