The close proximity to New York City and other major eastern cities, miles of inspirational scenery, and the abundance of wildlife make the Catskill Mountains an ideal location for weekend getaways and camping trips. For an enjoyable camping experience in the Catskills, stay at one of these four excellent campgrounds.

Campgrounds near the Catskill Mountains - Berentsen's Campground, Bloomingburg, NY

Burrowed in the Hudson Valley, Berentsen's Campground is a great location for nature lovers to experience the outdoors. Relax by kicking back at a private and spacious campsite, swimming in the campground pool, or taking a quiet stroll by the beautiful onsite stream. For more lively activities, explore the Catskill Forest Reserve or enjoy water sports such canoeing, fishing, and rafting on the nearby Delaware River.

Berentsen's Campground is open to campers from May 1st to October 31st. The current standard camping rate for a tent site or RV site is $30/night. The holiday rate is $35/night. Extra fees may be applied for groups of more than 4 people.

Campgrounds near the Catskill Mountains -Phoenecia Black Bear Campground, Phoenecia, NY

Phoenicia Black Bear Campground is surrounded by the Catskills and planted on the bank of the Esopus Creek. Onsite at the campground, ride the white rapids of the creek, hike the trails of the Catskills, and observe the area's wildlife such as black bears, bald eagles and other native birds, deer, and red foxes. Only a few miles down the road, visit Kaaterskill Falls, snow ski at Windham Mountain, sightsee in the town of Woodstock, or ride the rails on the Catskill Mountain Railroad Scenic Train.

Phoenicia Black Bear Campground is open to campers year round. The current standard rate for an off-creek tent sites is $28/night and $35/night for a creek site. RV sites, both on and off the creek, are $45/night. Extra fees may be applied for groups of more than 2 people.

Campgrounds near the Catskill Mountains - Russell Brook Campsite, Roscoe, NY

Situated in a secluded valley of the Catskill Mountains, Russell Brook Campsite is the perfect place for a camping getaway. The family-oriented campground is bordered by picturesque mountains, fresh water streams, and 18,000 acres of forest preserves. Unwind at your campsite nestled on the edge of Russell Brook, play with your children at the camp playground, enjoy an afternoon hayride, join a campers' sing-a-long, or take part in other fun campground activities. Nearby the campground, explore the mountain trails on horseback, cast your line in one of the area fishing spots, tube on the Beaverkill River, or visit the local Farmer's Markets and shops in the charming town of Roscoe.

Russell Brook Campsite is open to campers from May 1st to October 31st. The current standard rate for a tent site is $30/night and $33/night for RV sites. Rental rates for cabins are $55/night or $60/night for a waterfront cabin. Extra fees may be applied for groups of more than 4 people. Discounted rates are also offered for military members.

Campgrounds near the Catskill Mountains - Brookside Campgrounds, Catskill, NY

Brookside Campgrounds is a beautiful and quaint family-owned campsite located on the perimeter of the Catskill Mountains. While at the campground, try your hand at trout fishing along the Kiskatom Brook, shoot billiards in the game room, imagine and explore with your kids on the 25-foot Amish-built pirate ship on the playground, or take a peaceful nature walk. If you want to check out the local attractions, Zoom Flume Water Park promises a wet and wild day of family fun. For more adventure, go hiking, mountain biking, fishing, or searching for wildlife at the nearby Catskill Park.

Brookside Campgrounds is open to campers from April 15th to October 15th. The current standard rate for a tent site is $25 and the holiday rate is $30. For RV sites with hookups, the standard rates are $35-40 and holiday rates are $40-45. Extra fees may be applied for groups of more than 4 people.

The Catskill Mountains, located in Upstate New York, consist of over 6000 square miles of rivers, forests, farmland, and mountains.
