Southern California, around Big Sur and Riverside is the perfect place for camping any time of the year. Private campgrounds as well as state parks offer tent, RV and cabin camping with all of the related activities. Make your reservations as far in advance as possible. Some places take them as far as a year in advance. Make sure to check on the weather before you set out.

Riverside has 16 acres of land with 45 tent and RV sites along with 11 cabins. The public beach and hiking trails are just minutes away. Each site has its own fire pit and table and there are community hot showers, laundry facilities, and rest-rooms. Reservations are taken no more than 10 days in advance from November through April. Reservations for May through October are taken up to one year in advance. If you enjoy your stay, it is a good idea to make next years reservations while you are still here.

Lake Paris has 167 tent camp sites large enough for eight people and up to three vehicles and 264 hook up sites for RV's. Each site has its own fire pit and picnic table. Water, restrooms and hot showers are conveniently located and handicapped accessible. The park does not take reservations. Campsites are on a first come, first serve basis. December through April is the slow time of the year when sites are more readily available. The park offers 300 picnic tables and grills in picnic areas, two designated swim areas, scuba diving, pontoon boats and small fishing boats for rent, hiking, bicycling, horse back riding and rock climbing.

Terrace Village RV Park is a full service, gated pet friendly RV park with a outdoor heated pool, spa and recreation room. The park offers a total of 53 sites with a choice of 20, 30 or 50 AMP hook ups, cable TV, wireless internet, hot showers and restrooms. All of the facilities are handicapped accessible. Reservations are accepted, but they cannot guarantee you a specific spot.
