Lake Dennison State Campground is easy to find, on Route 202. It has 150 campsites, split up into two sections, the north side and the east side.
The office hours are from 10:00am to 10:00pm, but recently the way of making reservations has changed, and you are required to make reservations through www.reserveamerica.com or by calling 1-877-422-6762.
If you are bringing a large vehicle, such as a motor home, there are sites available but they are few and far between. It might be best to call ahead directly to the campground to find out if they are available for you: 978 939-8962 This is primarily set up as a "tenting" campground or for smaller travel trailers or pop-ups.
There is swimming available on both sides of the campground, as well as a dump area for your black and gray water if you do bring in your motor home. Restrooms are available in many places throughout the campground, only quite honestly, their cleanliness leaves a little to be desired, so bring some anti-bacterial soap with you if you are uncomfortable with "rustic" living!
The campsites are large, and each has a fire pit to make your midnight smores. Walking to the beach is easy on the north side, which is more of a family-oriented side. If you are camping on the east side, you can get to the beach but the trail is somewhat uneven and curved. There is even one section, which you'll have to walk through a small section of water! It might be best to consider driving to the beach if you are camping on the east side, but it is not far and less than ΒΌ of a mile.
Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash. It is expected that owners will clean up after their pets.
Overall, my kids and I have had several good camping trips to Lake Dennison State Park. As budget cuts have increased though, the cleanliness has gone down slightly. The park engineers do the best they can to keep up, and the sites are basically clean. If you have access to a motor home, or other form of RV with a bathroom than you don't have much to worry about! We have always spent a lot of quality time cooking on an open fire, swimming and playing volleyball. We are sure to hit this campground again this coming summer!
