Campsite Chili Pie Recipe

Hot delicious chili con carne is a favorite among campers. Combine this campground favorite with corn chips to a create tasty, filling dish sure to please hungry campers, Campsite Chili Pie.

Ingredients Needed

2 pounds ground beef

1 medium-size green bell pepper

1 medium size onion

1 garlic clove

1 16 ounce can tomato sauce

1 Pkg. McCormick's (or similar) dry chili seasoning mix

1 15 ounce can pinto beans

1 Pkg. corn chips

1 16 ounce pkg. grated cheddar cheese

Chili Preparation

Finely chop bell paper, onion and garlic and then place all in a skillet with crumbled ground meat. Cook over campfire or camp stove until the ground beef has been browned thoroughly. Once meat has been browned, pour off excess grease and add tomato sauce, beans and chili seasoning. Cook mixture over medium heat for 30 minutes.

Serving the Chili Pie

Pour a generous amount of corn chips into a serving bowl and cover with chili. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Do Ahead Tip

To simply preparation, the bell pepper, onion and garlic can be pre-chopped at home, placed in separate zip lock bags and refrigerated until needed.
