The "Twilight" movies have been rated PG-13 so far and keeping within the perimeters of the book for some of the scenes in "Breaking Dawn" sounds as if it will not be an easy job to tag the same rating onto this movie.
So far the "Twilight" movies have had to deal with a longing between the main characters of Edward and Bella. This was done as an implied sexual attraction and lust without being in bed together.
The acting was done to perfection, but clothes did not have to come off to do these scenes. Now with "Breaking Dawn" the clothes do have come off and this is going to lead to some very careful planning on the part of the director and editor for sure.
The honeymoon scene is one of the biggest events to come out of any of the "Twilight" movies yet. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart acted out this violent sex scene, but before they did Pattinson asked if doubles could be used instead because he was so afraid of hurting Stewart, according to the website Twifans.
The honeymoon scene called for Edward, the part that Pattison plays, to have a hard time controlling his super human strength while he and Bella, Stewart's character, have sex for the first time. During this violent sex scene, Edward bites on a feather pillow to keep himself from biting Bella.
After the scene, the movie calls for Bella to have bruises because Edward was not gentle in bed, due to his super strength.
When Pattinson saw the bruises on Stewart in real life, he got very upset. He thought that he caused the bruises during the sex scene. He was relieved when he found out that the bruises were make-up depicting bruises, according to Digital Spy.
The birthing scene in "Breaking Dawn" is also very graphic. This is going to call for some skill on the director's part as well as the editor's part to keep this movie true to the book, but keep it under the radar of a PG -13 rating.
This must be a dilemma for the creators of this movie. Some may ask why not do the book complete justice and push the movie up to an "R" rating? This would cost millions in the sales of movie tickets because more than half of the fans are tweens and young teens, according to MTV.
On the other hand toning down the scenes to pass under the radar of a PG-13 will take away from the book and the original depiction of the story, which is what the fans expect to see.
