Can Brett Favre Have Another Great Season?

Favre Will Not Repeat His 2009 Stats

Randy Inman
Will Brett Favre be able to repeat his season of 2009? No I don't think so even though I feel he will improve upon the showing me made against the New Orleans Saints. But I think Brett Favre is out of miracles at least with this Minnesota Vikings team.

Don't underestimate the loss of Sidney Rice for several games after having hip surgery. Rice and Favre had a connection together and were the key elements of the Vikings downfield passing attack. Brett Favre can't duplicate his 2009 stats without Sidney Rice.

Also the New Orleans Saints reminded people of Brett Favre's weakness in the 2009 NFC Championship Game. Get in his face and pressure him, hurt him, and he reverts to the hell bent for leather gunslinger who throws needless interceptions.

And Brett Favre is recovering from an ankle injury suffered in that same NFC Championship Game. Brett Favre will be 41 years old in October (he is a week older than me) and will be dealing with that ankle all season long.

It will also take Favre a few weeks to get his timing down with the wide receivers the Vikings do have. I did like the trade for Camarillo from the Dolphins. It shows that Minnesota is trying to win. Of course the fact that the team wants taxpayers to pay for a new stadium has a lot to do with that. Winning teams draw more fans and more of a chance that people won't bitch about paying for a new stadium.

Another big reason that Brett Favre won't repeat his 2009 performance is the schedule. The Packers, Bears and Lions all got better in the off season and the Vikings really don't have any creampuff games like they did last year.

Regardless of how Brett Favre plays in 2010 I do think it's his last year so we should enjoy his play while we have him. Favre will be 42 in 2011 and the football season is in doubt anyway due to a probable lockout. If there is no NFL season in 2011 then we defiantly have seen the last of Bret Favre.

Favre will not have a good year. I think the Vikings were suckers. Good analysis and I agree this will be Favre's last year.
