Can You Control Your Destiny?

Christina Armani
We aren't capable of controlling or changing our destiny. Destiny was never intended to be changed, altered, or controlled. If we were not destined for certain things, they would not happen to us. I believe in predestination and fate. God has paved our paths for us and knows where to take us. God is in control of everything, and that includes our destinies too. God provides us with many choices and decisions throughout our daily lives, but he knows what choices we will make and pushes us in those directions. We were all created for a specific purpose and destination. We are inferior beings who have no ability to control our destinies. Nobody has the ability to control his or her destiny. The best things we can do are to learn from our mistakes and have a positive attitude and outlook on life.

Wikipedia defines destiny as "a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural order to the universe." If destiny is predetermined, there is no way that it can be altered or controlled. If destiny is predetermined, then we're helpless to control it. While we may not be totally helpless in the face of destiny, our paths are already paved for us even before we're born. However, we do chose our friends, our homes, our hobbies, and our jobs so we do have a say over our own lives.

Everything in our lives happens for a specific reason, and God always knows what he's doing. God gave us life, and he gave us our destinies too. While we do have some say in our lives, we don't have a say over things like biological family, cancer or other diseases, or natural disasters that could happen to our home or place of employment. God has the ultimate say in our lives, and he has total control over all of our destinies.

Our destinies lie in Gods hands, or whatever higher power you believe in. God has already made our destinies for us, and he has equipped us to follow those destinies. Bad things happen to everyone, but it is all a part of God's plan. As the saying goes, what does not kill you only makes you stronger. Even if bad things happen to you, it does not mean that you have a horrible or worthless destiny. Everything that happens is a part of Gods design and God also has many better days planned for everyone as well. When it comes to our destinies, we just have to take it one thing at a time.
