So what has went wrong with that logic since Dale Earnhardt Jr. signed the contract to drive for Hendrick Motorsports? Well for starters I believe that Dale Jr. is trying to live up to his namesake and believe me that is some big shoes to fill being the son of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. who left the sport of Nascar way to soon when he passed away after a crash on the final lap in turn 4 of the 2001 Daytona 500.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. when he first came over to what was then the Winston Cup Series in 2000, Dale Earnhardt Jr would drive the wheels off of his race car every race before his father Dale Earnhardt Sr. passed away, and now it seems that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has gotten a monkey on his back and he seems to be afraid to drive the way he used to in fear of maybe he himself possibly getting killed on the race track the same way his father did. It could also possibly be the fact that he has been the most popular driver in Nascar for the last 6 straight years and he is trying to live up to that stature as well and maybe Dale Earnhardt Jr is trying to hard to deliver what the fans expect of him week in and week out.
I myself am a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and like everyone else who is a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. I am awaiting for the day that Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally shakes that monkey off of his back and starts being competitive again, like all of his fans know that he can do because he has already proved that when he first came over into the Cup Series. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a very talented driver but for what ever reason Dale Earnhardt Jr. just isn't happy right now and it is affecting his driving abilities on the race track.
It is just a matter of time and I am sure that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will finally be in contention again for the Sprint Cup Championship, but until that time comes we all need to just support him and always be the die hard Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans we have always been, and keep watching that 88 Amp Energy Chevrolet every Sunday afternoon or Saturday night because true Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans like myself know that Dale Earnhardt Jr can drive a race car, and we all just need to sit back and await for his day in the spotlight when he wins his first Nascar Championship and finally shakes that monkey off his back and can finally prove once and for all that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a competitive race car driver, and earns his first Championship because he is a great driver, and not because of his namesake of being the son of the greatest nascar driver of all time Dale Earnhardt Sr.
