Can a Dream Foretell the Future

Han Van Meegerin

Can a dream foretell the future? This question that has been debated throughout the course of history. Today, I submit to you the following: This morning my shoelace broke as I pulled it tight to tie my shoe. As it snapped in two, I immediately recalled that this event had just played out in my dream from the sleep from which I just awoke.

Given these facts, which of the following options seems the most plausible explanation? Option One: I noticed four days earlier, when I last wore this pair of shoes, that one lace was weak. My brain then placed this information in its subconscious memory and pulled it out in my dream. Option Two: Independent of any conscious effort on my part, my dream from the preceding night that depicted my shoelace breaking in the process of tying my shoe accurately foretold the actual event of my shoelace breaking while I attempted to tie my shoe. Option Three: It was pure coincidence. There is no connection between the dream and actual occurrence of my shoelace breaking in my attempt to tie my shoe. Option Four: None of the above. Feel free to substitute your own theory.

Again, I ask. Can a dream foretell the future?

dreams always tell the future or the chances of what could happen. it occurs all the time in my life and i have learned how to read my dreams and to prepare for events, i even wrote an article on this same subject. i'm glad someone else has weird dreams like that, so i'm not the only crazy person in the world haha :p

Really have no idea. I very rarely remember dreams so just don't pay any attention to that topic. Hope you had a spare pair of laces on hand! rcj

I don't know about the future, but a friend of mine works out the past in his dreams. He is always dreaming about things from his childhood or his drinking days. It can get pretty loud sometimes

When my parents were dating my mom dreamed my dad was covered in blood. Next day she found out he had been mugged and cut up with a knife.

Interesting to think about. I think some people may actually have the gift of being psychic or having dreams that tell the future. I haven't really experienced that. I just have really strange dreams (I've written a couple of articles about them). Recently, I have been having two recurring themes: adopting a child out of nowhere and feeling a strong need to show them unconditional love no matter what (is this my inner child or something?); and finding huge sections of my house or yard I never knew existed with secret passages and stuff.

I sometimes have "foretelling" dreams like this too and it's weird, isn't it?
