Can Eating More Get Rid of Belly Fat?

Ashley Gray

It might come as a surprise to hear that you can actually lose belly fat if you eat a lot one day per week, but this technique can actually mean the difference between getting a great set of abs or losing a great amount of weight and getting a body you desire. The typical male burns about 3000 calories per day, while women will burn around 2500. The only way to get rid of body fat is to eat fewer than 3000 calories in a day. Makes sense, right?

At first will you notice a bit of weight loss that will add up over time. As you progress, you'll probably hit a point where you just don't notice it changing your body shape or loss of weight anymore. People at this point tend to try eating even fewer calories. The biggest caveat to this is that they may actually lose muscle in addition to cutting fat. At this point your body is deficient of nutrients and your metabolism will slow down while your appetite will grow larger! This is attributed to leptin, a hormone. With fewer calories in your diet leptin levels in your body will begin to deteriorate, and metabolism will then lose a lot of speed, while increasing the buildup of cortisol, a hormone which fights fat loss and makes it more difficult.

In order to build a sleek set of ab muscles while losing weight you need to keep your resting metabolic rate at optimal levels. If you overeat one day per week usually with carbohydrates this is a great way to moderate your leptin and convince your body that food is actually abundant. This is a great technique for losing weight long-term because you could actually designate one day per week where you do nothing as far as worrying about eating or your diet routine. It's like a day off from your diet. The additional calories consumed that day will keep your resting metabolic rate in line and if you look forward to that overeating day where you eat whatever you want it, you'll be much more likely to stay enthusiastic and to eat healthily the rest of the week.

Educating yourself is your greatest weapon in losing weight or are reshaping your body to the body you want. If you're just going by rumors, will never see the progress you're going for, and many times will actually put yourself in a worse position than when you started. Learning how to loose weight is very much based on science and not superstition, so it's in your best interest to learn the right methods and to separate fact from fiction, even if it's not always the most interesting subject.
