Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is one of the most exciting theme parks in the country. The thrill rides and intense roller coasters provide pulse-pounding fun. But what about those of us with little ones? Can you enjoy a day here with a family of preschool children? In this article, I will show you how to answer this question with a "yes", and make the most of a fun day at "America's roller coast".

First off, Cedar Point amusement park is located in Sandusky Ohio near the southern shore of Lake Erie between Cleveland and Toledo. The park is open from May until late October every year. In the summer months, the hours are 10 am to 10 pm Sunday-Friday and 10 am to 11 pm on Saturday. Prices range from $41.95 for adults over 48 inches tall and $11.95 to those aged over 3 but under 48 inches tall.

Make sure to bring your own stroller for those tired feet to rest between rides, otherwise they are available to rent for $10.00 a day. Pack some snacks, water bottles and wear loose, comfortable clothes. And most of all, for a safe day outside in the summer sun, wear and pack sunscreen. Make sure to reapply throughout the day to keep from burning!

The first area that you will encounter after entering the park for the kids is Kiddy Kingdom. Here you will find a variety of older, carnival-like rides that are the perfect size for your preschool child. These include the Mustangs (Less than 54") , Old Timers (Less than 54"), Police Cars (Less than 54"), Roto Whip (Less than 54"), Hot Rods (Less than 54"), Krazy Kars (Less than 54"), Motorcycles (39"-54"), Sir Rub-A-Dub's Tubs (42" or accompanied by a responsible person), 4 x 4 Trucks (Less than 54"), Carousel (46" or accompanied by a responsible person), Dune Buggies (Less than 54") and the Helicopters (Less than 54"). Also in this area you will find the Peanuts Playground, which has a variety of play equipment, slides, a waterfall, a baseball pitch area and a train ride just for little ones.

Towards the back of the park, you will find the newer of the children's areas. This is Camp Snoopy. Here you will find a variety of rides that include Lolli Swing (42" or accompanied by a responsible person), Peanuts 500 (42" or accompanied by a responsible person), Balloon Race (42" or accompanied by a responsible person), Camp Bus (42" or accompanied by a responsible person) and the Red Baron (36"-54"). This area also contains the Snoopy Bounce (36"-52") and a stage show that has various Peanuts characters come out for dance, pictures and fun with the little ones.

There are also some "adult" rides that your preschooler can join you on. These rides are mostly tame, and offer a chance for mom and dad to enjoy the time with their little ones. These include the Antique Cars, Cadillac Cars, Turnpike Cars, Giant Wheel, Midway Carousel, Paddlewheel Excursions, Sky Ride, Space Spiral, Super Himalaya, Tilt A Whirl and the Cedar Point Railroad.

A neat area to explore at Cedar Point also is Frontierland, where you can see various old time professions like leather workers, woodcarvers and sign makers hard at work. This area also has a petting farm, where your preschool children can pet and get up close and personal with a variety of farm animals including goats, ducks, lambs, piglets and calves.

The shows at cedar point offer a break from the summer heat, and there are a variety of song and dance shows available. But there is one geared directly for the little ones that takes place in the Good Time Theater and is called "Snoopy's Summer Vacation". This show takes place on the ice, and is a fun, energetic live show for kids and parents to enjoy alike-the music will have you clapping and singing right along the whole time!

Above all, make sure to not rush through the experience, keeping at your child's pace. Have fun taking it all in for a great day and some life-long memories of a fun family day at cedar point.
