The first and probably most obvious way exercise aids in fertility is that it helps the woman fight obesity. Americans in particular are finding themselves fighting the war on obesity and by starting an exercise regime that consists of simply exercising for 30 minutes a day for three or four days a week can greatly help fight this battle. This can be as simple as walking on a track or treadmill daily or practicing something fun such as yogalates which is a combination of yoga and pilates. For those who want to start out low key an excellent form of exercise that is also relaxing is swimming. Exercising will help decrease the amount of fat a woman has stored in her body. Studies have shown that women who are overweight or obese have an increased amount of estrogen. This excess amount of estrogen actually will have a big impact on menstrual cycles as well as ovulation making it difficult or close to impossible to conceive.
In addition to helping aid in fertility by decreasing the amount of fat a woman stores in her body, exercise is also known to be one of the greatest ways to battle or relieve stress. Many people take for granted just how much stress can affect not only our mental health but our physical health including fertility as well. Stress can not only affect the fertility in women but in men as well. Studies have shown that stress in men can have an impact on the mobility and health of the sperm. When it comes to affecting the fertility in women, stress will often take a toll on women's menstrual cycles and ovulation even causing some to miss their periods completely.
Lastly new studies are coming about that show there have even been links between certain exercises actually increasing fertility. Many yoga poses are known to increase fertility by increasing the blood flow to some of the organs that are vital when it comes to actually being able to conceive. These poses can also help the uterus prepare itself for conception.
