Can I Help You?

Yes

Peter Flom

Can I help you?

The answer is yes.

You don't have to guess.

In one way or another,

All our lives are a mess.

Can I help you?

You don't need to ask.

But do you want a task?

Sometimes we can help

Just by sharing a flask.

Can I help you?

Just listen! Because, at the least

Pain shared is lessened and joy shared increased.

Less pain and more joy would be welcome by all

From the greatest of us, right down to the least.

Can I help you?

If your question's sincere

By now it should be clear

That you help just by asking

And asking is dear.

So ask "Can I help you?"

You're on the right track.

Because everyone suffers from some kind of lack

One more line; just to finish, you know; if you help me then

I might help you back.

    This should be shared everywhere!

Well done. Sometimes a lended hand or a shared shoulder works wonders :) cheers (I've always said that the world is one big sandbox and it would be so much nicer if we wouldn't throw sand at each other and learn to share our pails!) cheers

    Ditto what Orchiolum said :)

Another great one, Peter. Too many people ignore things they could help with and that's a shame.

Exactly...if the question were more often asked, in peace and light we'd bask.
