Can Kids Learn to Be Responsible?

If you are a parent, you probably have to keep on reminding your kids for many things. "Did you bring your lunch?" is probably some parents are familiar with. So how can you help your kids to be more responsible of their own belongings? You will need something mandatory to train them to be more responsible.

Giving your kids an award for being responsible for like a week probably is a good idea. Give them a dollar for every week they make their beds, clean their room, finish their homework and so much more. Right now you are encouraging them to do these stuff. Once they do this for a long time, it slowly gets into a habit. Once this is into a habit, they will be doing it without you even telling them to.

Remember to make sure that your kid is being responsible everyday. Just because one day they are about to be late for school, doesn't mean they don't have to make their bed that morning. Once you give them this option, they will start making excuses. Kids can actually remember to look out for their belongings. Sometimes, they may loose a pair of mittens or something. Help them by making sure they have their belongings for a while. You might as well stand where the door is and let them tell you what they will bring to school.

A good way to make sure that your child is responsible is by getting them a pet. A good pet would be a fish. They will need to feed it twice a day and change the water once a week. This also helps them to organize their time. When they need to change the water, they will have time for it. Try not to get your kid a dog if they are too young. They will play with it, but they will most likely forget to walk it or feed it. A dog, unlike a fish needs water, grooming, baths, walks and check ups. Most parents would probably not want to do the driving. A fish in most cases would be considered as a beginner pet to take care of since it is not too hard to.

As your child gets older, a bigger pet could be bought. A rabbit would be a good pet. You kids will need to clean their cage, give them water and that is about it. You don't actually need to take them for needle shots or like some annual check up.

Soon they will be able to accept bigger responsibility. This will train them for their future. As you can see, they will be able to get into a habit of doing things. One habit is to complete your homework right after school. Many kids would watch a bit of television; eat a snack then doing their homework. They constantly get into a bad habit you it is not impossible to help them change.
