Can You Lose Weight with Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds?
Weight Loss with the Deluxe DVD Edition Walk Away the Pounds 1 Mile & 2 Mile
When winter rolls around no one, including me, wants to walk in freezing weather. Most years December, January and February lend very few days for tennis in which the courts aren't covered with snow or ice or else simply wet and windy. The result is that I often gain seven to ten pounds during the winter months and it takes most of spring to lose. This year I was determined to do better. I set up an indoor swimming schedule and signed up for a cycling class. I was enjoying both and still getting three days a week of exercise.
I was going hardcore at keeping up my workouts and then the winter weather went hardcore too. Now the roads were too icy to drive at night when not completely necessary. My fitness and weight loss was very important but not more important than my safety, especially with my children in tow. By the end of January three extra pounds had crept on and I could really feel them. I needed a home workout plan that I would be motivated to stick to. A friend introduced me to a Leslie Sansome Walk Away the Pounds DVD. Within thirty minutes of walking and talking and doing some easy armband work, the workout was over. I had walked two miles. Was this too easy? The next day I could feel the results of my steps and I went online to order my own Leslie Sansome Walk Away the Pounds DVD.
Leslie Sansome has dozens of Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. I chose the Deluxe DVD Edition that offers both a 1-mile and a 2-mile walking workout. The 1-mile walking workout is approximately 18 minutes. The 2-mile walking workout is approximately 30 minutes. Both include some arm work as well. While Sansome uses weighted balls, I used canned vegetables at first and 1 pound weights later.
Can you lose weight with Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds?
I did. Using the DVD workouts three days a week for the month of February worked for me. I did the 30 minute 2 mile walk twice a week and the 18 minute 1 mile walk once a week.
How many calories are burned walking a mile?
The general rule of thumb is walking a mile will burn 100 calories. Livestrong.com also weighs in on the calories burn with Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds workouts.
From Livestrong.com:
"The number of calories that you burn with any type of exercise depends on how much you weigh and your individual metabolism. According to Health Status, if you weigh 150 lb, you can expect to burn about 88 calories walking a 15-minute mile with Leslie. If you weigh 200 lbs, you may burn about 117 calories doing the same program."
If we need to burn 3,500 calories to lose a pound, the 20 miles of walking away the pounds with Leslie Sansome in a month alone would result in burning around 2,000 calories or less than a pound, in fact, just a little over half a pound a month. I only committed to trying the work out three times a week and doing the workout more often would of course increase calorie burn.
I actually lost three pounds in the month that I used the Walk Away the Pounds DVD workouts at home. The extra pounds could be from the motivation I find to eat healthier snacks and drink more water on days that I have worked out verses days that I have been inactive.
Of course the biggest factor for weight loss success with exercise DVDs is whether or not you actually use the DVD. I found that knowing the workouts were only 18 minutes or 30 minutes long was very motivating to me. I also found Leslie Sansome to be cheery and entertaining without being obnoxious.
I would certainly recommend Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile and 2 mile workouts for weight maintenance when other exercise options aren't available or in addition to cutting calories for slow, healthy weight loss. According to Web. MD. losing 1 to 2 pounds is ideal.
"Losing weight quickly can be a real motivator as long as dieters recognize that real fat loss is slower and more likely to be at the recommended safe rate of 1-2 pounds per week," says Christine Rosenbloom, PhD, and RD.
Using the 1 mile and 2 mile workouts alone for three times a week you can walk away the pounds but it may take months to turn less than a pound into "pounds." Leslie Sansome also offers work out DVDs for walking 3 miles, 4 miles and 5 miles for those committed to faster weight loss.
