Can Matt Giraud Make the Most of His 'Save' on the April 21 American Idol Show?

Matt Giraud was saved last week, but the performance he gave on Tuesday night will have him in the bottom three again. It is tough to call, but either he or Anoop will be joining Lil Rounds on the bus home. The sad part is that Matt is so much better than he has been performing the last few weeks. However, all of a sudden he is singing like a deer in the headlights and seems totally confused when he is on stage.

Matt has a pretty good stage presence and can definitely move when he is up there, but what has happened to his vocals over the last couple of weeks? He is dying on the high notes and it may have cost him another week in the competition.

Singing Staying Alive, we were treated to probably the only true Disco version of a song. Not that it was a total duplicate of the song, but rather a twist that kept it in its genre and was still very lively. With most of the other performers choosing to take a disco song and flip it into something else, this was actually a joy to watch. Having said that, I almost cringed when he tried to carry those notes.

On the other hand, Matt can sing. He is one of the five that will more than likely end up on a label at the conclusion of the show and be immediately heard from. He needs a little vocal training, but other than that he is going to be fine. That is all ahead of him though, right now he needs to worry about getting through the voting for this week's show and making the most of that save.

Lil is out unless she gets help from those websites that try to keep the worst singer on. The other four were very good and that leaves us with Matt and Anoop. I am going to lean towards Matt hanging around for another week because I don't think Anoop has the following that Matt does. Anoop seems like he is always on the stoop to go home and he will be there again this week. It is going to be close though and neither one of them should feel very safe tonight. Regardless of who it is though, you only have one more week left as the other four are at a completely different level right now.
