Can You Make Money with Forum Posting?

R
If you spend much time on the Internet, you probably see ads for all kinds of money-making opportunities, including a way for you to make money by posting to Website forums. But are these legitimate opportunities? Well, yes and no. Much of whether this will work out for you depends on two things: your expectations, and the company that you work with. Just as it is with any field, there are good companies and there are bad companies.

Finding out which ones are good and bad can sometimes be trial and error, but doing an Internet search for the name of the company you're considering working with along with the words 'scam' or 'review' or 'pay' can help you determine whether the company is legitimate and whether it pays its writers consistently and on time.

Forum posting is not a get-rich-quick scheme of any kind. Companies generally pay from ten cents to twenty cents per forum post. These posts have to be relevant to the subject at hand and they also have to be a specific word length (usually around twenty to twenty-five words, although some companies accept less). That means that you'll have to give some thought to what you say and you might even have to do some research if you don't know the topic very well. This can slow you down and keep you from getting much written, which makes it very difficult to get a living wage off of forum posting.

There are many companies out there but only a few are any good, and even those that are legitimate and high-quality only allow you to make a set number of posts on a set number of forums per day. You can't live off of the money that you make with these companies - it's simply not enough. You can, though, supplement your other income or make a few extra dollars per month if you're a student, a stay-at-home mom, or someone else who wouldn't generally have an income.

This type of work shouldn't be ruled out, even by people who make enough money but just want something else to do in their spare time. You can meet great people on forums and learn about a lot of interesting things. Just make sure that you pick a good company to work for and that your money-making expectations are realistic. If you address those issues first, you'll have a much better experience with forum posting and you'll be more likely to do it for a longer period of time.
