Whether the winner is John McCain or Barack Obama, 2009 will be a year to remember. President Bush will leave office with the economy in a downward spiral and troops still stationed in Iraq. People will expect the new president to take care of now only current issues, but any issues that may arise between now and then.
As with any new president, people will be anxious to find audio, video, and any text from any and all presidential speeches and appearances. As the winner settles into his routine, people will become less obsessed with his every move. However, for the first six months to a year, no one will be able to search the internet or watch television without hearing or seeing something about the president.
How will the president handle the economic problems we are currently facing?
Will oil prices decrease?
Will new jobs be created to help stimulate the economy?
Will the troops be brought home or will the war continue?
How will foreign trade be handled to bring jobs back home?
These are just a few of the many questions American citizens will be expecting our future president to answer. In their quest for answers, the internet will be buzzing with news of the president's appearances and speeches. With all the video sharing and blogs available, there will be no end of information and opinions available. Hundreds and thousands of sites and blogs will be created based simply upon the new president.
2009 will be full of speculation on how the president will proceed in not only repairing our fragile economic situation, but also on any new policies that will make him the president to remember. The internet will be a valuable tool in allowing America to keep with any and all changes the president may be considering.
This will be a year for changes to begin. Whether these changes are positive or negative is yet to be seen. Bush's reign will be over and we may quite possibly have the first African-American president. Regardless, the country will have changed simply from the campaign trail. McCain and Obama are both formidable opponents capable of great things. 2009 will be a new beginning for our country.
With all the changes that may occur in music, technology, and celebrity gossip, nothing will be able to overshadow the first term of our newly elected president. No celebrity scandals will be able to keep the attention of the news and general public as well as the next president. With the future of our citizens and country resting on the shoulders of one man, how can we help but stay riveted to our computers, newspapers, and televisions for news of what may happen next? This is what is next for the internet and United States.
