Even though Peyton Manning did not win the Super Bowl in 2010 it did not stop him from winning his fourth MVP - which is an NFL record. Indeed Peyton Manning is the most important part of the Indianapolis Colts reason why they have been a winning and dominate team since he joined the Colts organization in 1998. Peyton Manning is without a doubt a true field general, and the captain of the Colts team.

When Peyton Manning won his MVP's in 2003, 2004, 2008, and 2010 it would be apparent that this may not be the end for his quest to earn another MVP season. The 2010 NFL season will be a very competitive one for sure, and it will take Peyton to be at his best in order to achieve this super status. One of the main reasons Peyton Manning continues to excel at his position - is his desire to be the best, in addition to all of the countless hours of diligent film study that he commits himself to every season.

At the beginning of the 2009 season Peyton was recovering from knee surgery that hampered his ability to be at his best playing capacity, but his unselfish attitude is what sets him apart from many of his predecessors. In his own words Peyton expresses what it meant to win his fourth MVP award. "I'm very humbled and grateful to be honored with this award and I really feel like it is a reflection of our team," said Manning, but the feelings became bittersweet as the Colts organization decided to sit their starters after their 14-0 winning run.

The reminder that the Colts did not go undefeated in 2009 may be a motivating force for Manning and his teammates which could be that one thing that may give him the edge in the upcoming 2010 season. And in closing - it may be another thriller year that earns Manning another MVP, and as he reflects back on the 2009 season - this one day Hall of Fame QB may have a new trophy to add to his showcase in 2010.

Peyton Manning has 4 MVP awards, and Brett Favre has 3 MVP awards, both of these quarterbcaks will go down in NFL history as the best to ever play the game.
