Can You Replace Your Laptop with an Apple IPad?

Robert Falden
There are many people who like how the Apple iPad looks. The Apple iPad has a gigantic touchscreen with a very thin and sleek design. That means that it scores a 10 when it comes to looks. This is one of the questions that people ask themselves if the iPad is a good replacement for a laptop. Unfortunately, there is much more that you have to consider if you plan on getting an Apple iPad to replace your laptop or the laptop of the person you are buying it for. You have to consider the features and capabilities that are associated with the Apple iPad.

If you were just buying it for looks then it would be a great gift that could be used as a replacement for a laptop, but if you actually wanted to use it then the tables turn quickly. Many people thought that the Apple iPad would fit into the tablet PC category just like the other small tablet PCs that are already on the market. Unfortunately, the Apple iPad is greatly impaired by the operating system that it uses. Many people where upset when they found out that the Apple iPad would simply be a very large iPod Touch in comparison. This is because the operating system that is used on the Apple iPad is almost identical to the one that is used on the iPod Touch which is simply a handheld device.

Tablet PCs that are already on the market have the ability to simply run Windows 7. Windows 7 was built to be helpful to people who are using tablet PCs that are capable of running Windows 7. Also, when you have a Windows 7 tablet PC you will be able to do just about everything that you would be able to do on a normal desktop or laptop PC. That means you can still have burn CDs and DVDs with an external USB drive. You will be able to easily save music on your Windows 7 tablet PC.

Another thing that you can compare is the processor speed. The iPad uses a 1GHz processor very efficiently, but that still pales in comparison even with an inefficient dual core tablet PC or a high end pentium 4 or celeron tablet PC.
