I conducted several Google searches to find out what was on the Internet news and blogs. I was shocked by what I found. Using the phrase, "steroids in our foods" I came up with no results. The search with the words "steroids, food, studies" had over 34,000 results. Most of them relating to athletes and their use of steroids, items about treating health issues with steroids or steroids and obesity. A search for steroids, health, food, had no results.
It only stands to reason that if steroids make plants produce more and larger fruits and seeds, or if steroids produce larger, meatier animals that the traces of steroids that remain in these commercially grown products will make us larger as well. But what about other health effects?
IIn 1990 I learned that my future ex-husband had put arsenic in my food. He later told me that he wasn't trying to kill me but that he thought if he could keep me sick and at home, (I was a long-haul truck driver) he was sure we could save the marriage that was, in my mind and heart over at least seven years by then. We had been married for 18 years at the time.
I went to the doctor for proof of his actions and was told by the physician that I had one to four years to live. I had no real legal recourse as I had no proof that he was the person that fed it to me. However, that isn't what this article is about.
I firmly believe that good news from a doctor needs a second opinion and bad news needs at least three. I am also very good at researching an issue. Three doctors later, all three with a different life expectancy declaration (none more than four years) I started doing my research. I bluffed my way into the library of a medical college that shall remain nameless and started reading.
Much to my amazement I learned that my own chiropractor had once written an article about this subject for one of the medical magazines. I made an appointment and went to see him. His advice depressed me more than the news of my impending demise.
He explained to me that most illnesses could be accelerated by the traces of steroids that are found in commercially grown and marketed foods. He said that this would not make my life expectancy any less but it was one of the factors in the timeline I had received from the other doctors. He gave me a list of three different herbs and vitamins to take that would help suspend the arsenic in my liver. Thus preventing it from eating away at this organ, which would have been the real cause of my early death. He warned me that these vitamins and herbs would not eliminate the arsenic enough to make a difference as long as I was eating food purchased from the grocery stores. I had first been diagnosed with arsenic poisoning almost a year before this conversation. I was already feeling the effects of the poisoning.
There are studies that prove that steroids, particularly in the case of junk food and children that the use of steroids in the manufacturing of food products promotes obesity in children. (See resources below) They can also seriously limit the bodies natural cleansing properties which make the occurrence of acne more prevalent.
