Vampire Movie Apparently Gaining Male Fans as Well

According to www.boxofficemojo.com, Twilight's long awaited sequel New Moon, has already reached the 240 million dollar plateau in a span of eight days. This milestone was totally unexpected for those who were involved with the first Twilight film since it only garnered 192 million dollars domestically during its theatrical run. The vampire chick flick proved to be a monstrous powerhouse in theaters when it made over 72 million dollars on its opening day. New Moon's surprising box office results destroyed the Dark Knight's previous record of 67 million dollars on opening day.

Twilight's New Moon is officially now the highest grossing vampire/werewolf film of all time and it looks like its up coming sequel will likely perform the same. The odds of New Moon reaching the 400 million dollar mark at the box office are currently decent since it still has the month of December to reach that goal. December is also the month in which the long awaited Avatar film will be released. Some believe Avatar will rake in the big bucks, but as for me I highly believe otherwise. The movie looks like it was made by Pixar rather than James Cameron himself. This has led to negative criticism by not only skeptics, but loyal Cameron fans as well. The CGI does not appear to look revolutionary at all and according to www.cnn.com, Fox announced that Avatar is the most expensive movie ever made.

Anyway, in order for New Moon to reach 400 million dollars at the box office, it must have very strong weekends throughout December and January. The funny thing about this year's Twilight movie is that it has garnered more male moviegoers than the last one. Believe it or not, www.foxnews.com revealed that males felt connected with the movie's love story because it was similar to theirs. I, like most males, do not care about this movie, but I am fascinated with the fact that it was able to beat the Dark Knight's record opening of sixty-seven million dollars. I am a little disappointed that a so-called vampire chick flick was able to beat the best action movie of all time. I only hope that the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series shatters the current record with over 100 million dollars.
