Can I Upgrade the Graphics Card in My Laptop?

Robert Falden
There are many people who like to play PC games. Most people play PC games on desktop computers because they are easily upgradeable just in case your computer does not meet the requirements to play the games of your choice. On the other hand, if you have a laptop that does not meet minimum requirements to play those games that you want to play then you may find out that you may be in a bind. Most people will ask the question, "Can I upgrade the graphics card in my laptop?"

What they find is that they have made a hasty decision to by a laptop that they would soon regret buying. This is because most laptops that you buy do not offer the option to upgrade the graphics card in the laptop. Laptops are too compact to allow for more expansion other than the virtual memory and the physical memory. This is due to the fact that laptop hard drives and laptop RAM upgrades are really small and they are pretty generic when it comes to where you can plug it or stick it. On the other hand, the graphics cards that are in laptops are almost never the same size because they are built on to the main board of the laptop.

People who ask the question, "Can I upgrade the graphics card in my laptop?" end up spending money on a desktop that can be easily upgraded with a graphics card that can play even the most latest of games. Most of the time this is the cheapest way because there are many video cards today that cost under $50, but they have the ability to fully support the features in some of the latest games such as Farcry 3. If you take the route of getting a gaming laptop that will have a graphics card that will fully support the features of the latest games you will probably find out that you would need to speed close to, if not more than, $1000. This is because most gaming laptops that are built with these performance graphics cards will almost always have other high priced components that will optimized the performance and maximize the price of the gaming laptop. So the next time you ask the question, "Can I upgrade the graphics card in my laptop?" you should automatically know the two choices that you have if you want to play that game that you've had your eye on.
