Several of the Canadian provinces offer nomination visa programs that are specific to the province, with each offering a unique program with its own conditions and qualifications that must be met. One of the major advantages to any of the provincial nomination programs is that you are fast tracked for permanent Canadian residence which means that you can apply for Canadian citizenship sooner. You also typically do not have to undergo the points based skills assessment with the provincial nomination programs as you do with for the skilled worker visa program.
Under the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program you are given the status of a permanent Canadian resident upon being approved for the program and arriving in Canada as a resident. One of the requirements of the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program is that you remain in the province of Manitoba to live and work for the duration of your residency as a permanent Canadian resident. After only three years as a permanent resident you can apply for Canadian citizenship. Once you have obtained Canadian citizenship you are free to move and live and work anywhere in Canada that you wish.
One of the key differences of the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program over the other provincial nomination programs is that you are allowed to apply for the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program your self where employers must nominate you for candidacy under most of the other provincial nomination programs. The way that it works in Manitoba is that there are two categories - a priority category and a general category. You can get in the priority category if you have an offer of employment when you apply.
The priority category is further separated into five subcategories of employer direct scheme, international student scheme, family support scheme, community support scheme, and strategic recruitment scheme. Under the employer direct scheme you will need a permanent full time job offer that has been pre-approved by the nomination board or if you have a work permit visa and have worked in Manitoba for six months and have a full time permanent job offer. Under the international student scheme, you will need to have completed a post secondary degree in Manitoba and have a full time permanent job offer and a temporary work permit. Under the family support scheme, you will need to have a close relative in Manitoba that will sponsor you and meets any necessary criteria. You must prove that you intend to stay in Manitoba though. Under the community support scheme you will need a letter of support from a community in Manitoba that has signed a CSA (Community Support Agreement). Under the strategic recruitment scheme you will need to have documentation that shows that you meet any necessary requirements.
If you do not fall into any of the priority categories then you can try to qualify under the general category. Under this category you will be given a points based assessment. However, the main qualifying factor will be your intention and ability to settle in Manitoba.
Under the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program you will be required to show proof of financial resources regardless of what category you fall under. The specific requirements will vary depending upon what category or subcategory that you will fall under.
You can bring your spouse or common law partner and any children under age 18 with you to Canada under the Manitoba Provincial Nomination program. Family immigration is also allowed if you have children under age 22 and not married or over age 22 and in school or physically disabled and dependant upon you.
