Cancer Awareness

Tara Darity
This is important
Please be aware
I have something
I want to share

Cancer is a disease
An uncontrollable growth
We can't prevent or cure
I wish we could do both

It affects many people
It is so very sad
In August 2008
Cancer took my Dad

Almost two years later
I am still mourning
So I am writing this
Almost as a warning

Before it affects you
Let's take a stand
We can all make an effort
To lend a hand

So you may ask
Well what can I do
Donate time or money
To help others through

So what is the point
I have the answer
If we join together
We can fight Cancer!

I have been fighting cancer nearly all my life as a victim, as it took my dad's life when I was 15 and now my mother has been battling it for three years. It took my dog, 2 years ago, and it has dominated my life in so many ways and created a constant anger to deal with.

My wife's dad died from Leukemia. My grandadaughter is in remission from Leukemia; Still in treatment. Very few people anymore have not been touched by Cancer in some form. We support a number of Cancer causes.

A difficult loss ~ sorry to hear. A beautiful poetic tribute to your dad ~ currently my mom in NY is hanging tough still with hers, so far staying somewhat dormant (remission) ~ A quest for so many - keep up the fight!

Lost my Mother-in-law last year to cancer. The whole family misses her terribly. Hope someday that this terrible disease can be cured.

That was really well done. Just taking the time to ask someone who is going through chemo and can't leave their homes if the need something means the world. Unfortunately I know this from first hand experience. *dysgerminoma 10/7/86, *dysgerminoma 11/10/92, *ductal carcinoma in situ 2/28/08. This caused me to tear up because most people avoid the situation altogether and it makes the person feel worse. Donating money for research is critical for cured but in the meantime, donating time and friendship is critical for the cancer patient's soul.
