Cancer Prevention: Will Adding Superfoods to the Menu Help Prevent Cancer?

Adding Superfoods to the Menu Seem to Prevent Many Types of Cancers

Pat Anthony
Cancer prevention is thought to be possible if superfoods are eaten on a regular basis. Many have seen their share of cancer and are open to the idea that dietary changes may help prevent certain cancers.

According to some studies, cancer rates are higher in those not eating superfoods. The term superfood is not new to most, and has been used to describe foods that are thought to offer some cancer prevention.

Superfoods, sometimes referred to as power foods, have been studied to determine how these can prevent some cancers and improve health. Foods considered include fruits and vegetables rich in color. Peppers and berries come to mind first. Also included as superfoods: Brussels sprouts, broccoli, garlic, grapes, cauliflower, tomatoes and more.

Spices such as turmeric are considered a superfood. Green tea makes the list as does black tea and walnuts. Preventing certain types of cancer by including superfoods on the menu is not a new thought.

Giving a boost to the immune system by improving dietary choices has been studied for decades. Reports show some physicians have also recommended dietary changes for those being treated for cancer. Women are often told to include certain superfoods in their diet to improve their health.

In addition to adding superfoods to the menu to help prevent cancer, many physicians tell patients they should be getting proper sleep. Also, avoid tobacco products, too much alcohol and stress. Stress is thought to tax the immune system making some more likely to get cancer than others.
