Cancer Symptoms: Many Women Overlook the Early Signs and Symptoms of Cancer

Women Often Overlook the Early Signs of Cancer, Delaying Treatment for Months or Years

Cancer symptoms are often ignored by women who think they are healthy. Studies show women understand some of the symptoms they choose not to give attention to are important, yet they overlook cancer signs for many reasons.

As cancer symptoms are often discussed publicly, most women realize what the major sign of cancer are. However, reports indicate that women often state they do not have the time to deal with what may be a sign or symptom that they have cancer.

One of the major signs often overlooked by women in particular includes unexplained weight loss. Women who have not made dietary changes and notice they are losing a considerable amount of weight should address this issue.

Other symptoms such as abdominal pain, pelvic pain and bloating can be serious, and should be discussed with a physician. Women often feel these are temporary issues that will be resolved without medical attention.

Changes in the skin, including moles can be a sign of cancer. Women often ignore such changes, sometimes stating they thought the changes were hormonal. Any skin change is reason for a medical evaluation.

Fatigue is a symptom many women think is normal because they are busy and don't have time to get needed sleep. However, fatigue beyond what seems normal should be addressed.

Coughing up blood, or blood in the urine or stool are serious symptoms that may point to cancer. Women often ignore these signs of possible cancer stating they do not have time for medical appointments. Unfortunately women are often too busy taking care of others to devote the time needed to ensure their own health.
