Candace Cameron Bure: Where She is Now

Robin Raven
Candace Cameron Bure was known by simply her maiden name Candace Cameron when she starred as D.J. Tanner on "Full House." She was born the youngest of four children to Robert Cameron and Barbara Bausmith on April 6, 1976. Growing up in Southern California, Candace followed in the show business footsteps of her older brother, Kirk Cameron, who starred on "Growing Pains."

Candace started her career acting in commercials, then she moved on to guest spots in hit shows of the 1980s like "Who's The Boss?" and "Growing Pains." It wasn't long, however, until she landed the starring role of D.J. Tanner of "Full House" while she was still in elementary school. Career success found Candace quite early.

"Full House" began filming in 1987, and it went on for eight seasons, before ultimately ending in 1995. Candace appeared as oldest daughter D.J. in every episode as part of the ensemble cast that included John Stamos, Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Jodie Sweetin, and the infamous Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. While a part of the show, Candace acted in other things, such as the made-for-TV kids' movie "Camp Cucamonga."

When "Full House" went off the air, Candace stayed very busy with television movies. Then, one day, Dave Coulier introduced her to her future husband, former Russian hockey player Valeri Bure at a hockey game. It was instant fireworks for the two of them, and Candace married at the age of 20 on June 22, 1996. She traveled with her husband for his career, and they lived in Canada for several years and Florida for several years, before returning to Los Angeles to live in 2009.

Candace made a Christmas movie called "Moonlight and Mistletoe," which has become an instant Christmas classic. She is also now the star of another successful television series, which goes into its second season production in the summer of 2010. "Make It or Break It" stars Candace alongside another strong ensemble cast. Like Candace in real life, her character in the show is devoted to her faith.

Candace has given testimony on how her faith has sustained her and strengthened all of the relationships in her life. As part of her testimony on her official website, Candace explains her deep faith, "God has changed me in ways that words can't describe. He has transformed the way I think and live my life. Things that were once important to me are no longer. I can't help but share the Good News with everyone! I know there is nothing more important. I know that without Christ, the eternal consequences are devastating. I urge you to surrender your whole life to Jesus, turn from your sin and trust in Him with all your heart. Pick up a bible, and start reading."

Candace's deep faith is often mentioned by her. It shows. She's pretty much the antithesis of the former child star stereotype. She is thriving in every aspect of her life. She's happily married with three children. She is starring on her second hit television show, and she has a book coming out. She continues to actively grow in her spiritual life. She even takes time out to Twitter with her fans quite frequently, whether on set or at home. Giving back is something Candace knows to be important, and it has served her well.
