Candle Magick for Beginners

Candle magick is one of the easiest and most effective forms of magick. You only need a few supplies to get started which you might already have in your home. Its useful to learn how to meditate before working any magick. Here is a step by step guide to help you through your first candle spell.

1. Get 1 candle in the color that corresponds with your intent

White: Can be used in place of any color.
Yellow: Creativity, Imagination, Concentration
Gold: Attracts divine energy
Orange: Creativity, Ambition, Career, Legal Matters
Pink: Self Love, Friendship, Non-romantic love, femininity
Red: Passion, Romantic Love, Courage, Strength, Power, Energy, Health, Creativity
Silver: Psychic abilities, Attracts spirit guides, removes negativity
Purple: Spiritual World, Power, Success
Blue: Wisdom, Harmony, Peace, Self healing, Guidance
Green: Prosperity, Fertility, Good Luck, Harmony, Money
Black: Banish negativity, Undo Curses or Bad Omens, Promotes deep meditation

2. Make an oil for your candle. To do this use a few drops of your favorite or corresponding essential oil mixed with a little olive oil. A little goes a long way. Rub a small amount on your candle and then place in a candle holder.

3. On a piece of paper, preferably the same color as the candle, write a poem or rhyme about your intent. Think about what you want and then pour your heart out. It can be as long or as short as you need it to be. Don't be lazy though, a short poem is ok only if its what you truly need.

4. Light the Candle and read your words to the flame. Look into the flame and imagine your intent taking place. It is ok to get emotional and even cry if you want to. The more energy you put into this the better it will work.

5. You need a small dish that you can burn your piece of paper in. Anything will do as long as you know it can withstand the flame. Even a small flower pot will work. Fold your paper 3 to 4 times and then light it on fire with the candle flame. Place it in the dish to burn completely. Its fine if you have to light the paper on fire a few times to get it to burn.

6. Blow out the candle and then throw it away. If you used plain paper then throw the ashes from the paper away as well. If you used recycled paper then consider doing this next step.

7. Instead of discarding your ashes use them to grow a plant. Take a small pot and fill it with a mixture of potting soil and your ashes. Add a flower seed and then grow according to the instructions for your plant. When the plant reaches its flowering stage, cut it and bring inside. If you're spell is made with a good intent then you will find that this flower will return that positive energy to your home.
