Do-it-Yourself Stain Removing from Carpet

I must start off by telling you that everything in here is a suggestion and if it fails I cannot be held accountable for these suggestions failing to remove the stain.
Candle Wax: Yes, you can get out Candle Wax out of the carpet. Not going to try and sugar coat this as it is not always easy to do. But patience is the key of course to any stain you face. The dyes in the candle wax are part of the issue so getting the stain out. The dyes in the wax very in make-up, such as even the oils used to scent the candle can make lifting the stain an issue. So be for warned that you may get the candle wax out but alas there was heat to cook the dye into the fibers of the carpet and of course other factors to the dye in the Candle wax that make it difficult to remove. And to add to the issue of cooking the dyes in to the carpet, we may also have to use heat to get the candle wax out.
  • To begin scape as much of the candle wax up as you can, say with using a spoon to loosen and scrape the wax.
  • Take an ice cube(s) to the area to freeze the candle wax. This should harden the candle wax even more to make it easier to break up and get more of the Candle wax up.
  • If you are not happy yet with the result: To get the rest of the candle wax out of the carpet, put down a clean brown paper bag over the spot. Place a clothes Iron that is set on low setting on it. Remember LOW. Man made fibers will often MELT from the heat. This could make our stained area even worse. So please make sure you are being very carefull. What we want and are trying to do is for the candle wax to liquefy and transfer to the brown paper bag. You may have to keep repeating this step numerous times. Remember each time you want to be using a fresh paper bag because you do not want to transfer the candle wax now on the paper bag back to the carpet.
  • If this cannot be done or you still have some candle wax that just doesn't want to come out, you can try rubbing alcohol. This may help with some of the staining from the dyes from the candle wax too. use a white cloth or PLAIN white paper towel ( so there is not dye transfer from the paper towel) with the rubbing alcohol on it and blot the area. Repeat this with a fresh area of the towel or new paper towel unit you get no more transfer of the candle wax or dye from the wax to the towel.
  • Once this is done and you believe you have done what you can , rinse the area of the carpet with clean cool water and blot the excess liquid up to dry the area quickly or use your trusty Wet/Dry Vacuum to suck up the moisture.
With the Holidays comes spills of all kinds be prepared and get yourself a Wet/Dry Vacuum. It is a must have. The soon you start to left those nasty stain causing substance off your carpet the better. Stop the spread and low your risk of damage to the carpet by having a Wet/Dry Vacuum.
