Candy Corn Birthday Party Theme

Emily Harmon
Candy corn, the tasty and cute fall candy, is a great springboard for an adorable birthday party theme for babies, toddlers, and young children. If you have a child with an October birthday, candy corn can be the basis for a unique and unforgettable birthday party. Try these ideas for creating a wonderful candy corn birthday party theme for your baby, toddler, or young child.

The Decorations. The decorations for a candy corn birthday theme can range from the very simple to the super elaborate. At the very least, tablecloths in orange, yellow, and white can be purchased and layered on the party tables for a candy corn effect. Orange, yellow, and white streamers can also be purchased and strung together to give the candy corn look throughout the party area. Online retailers such as Oriental Trading have a variety of candy corn decorations from candy corn bags for party favors to candy corn shaped candles. Just purchase a few candy corn items for a candy corn birthday party theme and then complete the look with orange, yellow, and white paper products, tablecloths, and streamers.

The Food. Obviously bowls of candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins are a staple item for any candy corn themed birthday party. There are plenty of other food items, both savory and sweet, that will compliment your candy corn themed birthday party. When thinking about the food for this unique birthday party, think in terms of color. Consider creating a vegetable tray with yellow bell peppers, orange baby carrots, and sliced radishes and thinly sliced parsnips. This healthy birthday party food will look just like a piece of candy corn when the three colors are arranged on a tray. A fruit tray could also be created with the same technique. Just line a tray with sliced oranges, pineapple, and apple slices that have been treated with lemon lime soda for an orange, yellow, and white fruit tray. The remaining foods can be anything you like since the guests will all be noticing and raving about the "candy corn" fruit and veggie trays.

The Games and Activities. Candy corn is a great item for various birthday party crafts, games, and activities---if you can keep the guests from eating the supplies, that is! Let little ones glue candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkin pieces to a large printed picture of a candy corn piece. Create a fluffy candy corn by sticking the eraser end of a pencil into glue, then onto appropriately colored pieces of tissue paper. Then stick the pieces of fluffy tissue paper to the right spaces on a printed candy corn piece. A final great birthday party game for a candy corn themed birthday party is "guess how many candy corn pieces." Just count out a large amount of candy corn and place it in a large container. Older kids and adults attending the candy corn birthday party will love trying to guess the number in the jar.

Candy corn is a fall staple and makes a great theme for a baby, toddler, or young child's birthday party. Use these fun and easy ideas to plan your very own candy corn themed birthday party.

Do you have to be a kid to like candy corn? I'm 55 years young and I have always loved that stuff!
