Candy-Free Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day

Is Your Sweetie Sweet but Doesn't like Sweets? Here Are Some Sweet Ways to Celebrate V-day!

Valentine's Day is coming and for many this is a day full of chocolate, candy and hearts and flowers. But for some people - every day, not just Valentine's Day, means avoiding sweets. Some are diabetic, some have dietary reasons to avoid sweets and others just don't like sweets (imagine that one!). So what can you get someone if they don't want, don't like, and really don't hope you are showing up at their doorstep with something sweet?

Flowers

A great idea is to get your sweetie flowers. Flowers are very popular for Valentine's Day, probably just as popular as sweets such as chocolate or hearts full of sweets. You can get someone a dozen red roses, or you can even be a bit more creative and get them a dozen of their favorite flower - not everyone is a red rose fan. Get them a dozen pink tulips!

Plant

Another idea, following close behind flowers is to get someone special a plant. Plants are a great gift, especially because with a little TLC they will last a very long time. You can get plants at most florist and flower shops. They will sell indoor plants that someone can keep at their desk at work or in their house. This is a great gift that someone can enjoy for a long time.

Spa treatment

This is a very indulgent gift to get that special person in your life for Valentine's Day. Why not give them a package for a day's worth of services, or a massage and a facial. Here's a tip though when picking out spa services though - think indulgent and relaxing, not something that improves your mate. Don't select services such as coloring their gray hair, or waxing unwanted body hair or massage for cellulite - or this could be the last Valentine's Day for this relationship.

Personalized service

There are so many personalized services out there, that there is sure to be one that will appeal to your sweetie. Perhaps your sweetie would like a masseur that comes to their home so they don't have to even leave the house to relax. Or a personal trainer that comes to the home so they can learn some new workout tips to help them train for that marathon. Or maybe a personal chef who can teach them some new tricks in the kitchen. Again with picking a personal service, just like the spa treatment - go with something that you know will be indulgent and something that they will enjoy, not something that improves them in the slightest. It is meant to be a gift and a treat. Let them improve themselves on their own dime.

Time travel

This may sound like a strange gift, but it actually can be rather sweet. To give a "time travel" gift - think back to your first date, or one of your early, special dates when you realized that this was a special relationship. Think of a gift that remembers that date. So if you went to a Cher concert, get them a CD of music from that concert. Try to be a little creative and think of something special in your relationship that will make both of you smile. This will be much, much better than chocolate.
