The Canon SD1300 IS was my decision for a new camera and it cost me $200 while my previous camera ran me $150. I think it was well worth the money because I am able to take decent pictures from about 60 feet away. Subjects appear to be closer than they are when using this camera and this leads to better pictures. The pictures were also high quality enough so that I could print posters for my family and hand them out. This is something that I would have never had the ability to do with the Panasonic camera.
The Canon SD1300 IS also has a special setting for shooting in low light. The great thing about this feature is you can capture sunsets and the images will come out nicely without any distortion and this is what I was looking for. As for cons, the Canon SD1300 IS has a continuous option for shooting that will take images at 1 per second. This means you will find it hard to capture any sports activity but I do use it for landscapes and nature related photos. Another thing that I love about the Canon SD1300 IS is the ability to shoot video in MPG4 video format and then import them to your iPod or iPad. You can also shoot in AVI format and then create a DVD out of the files. Another important feature of this camera is the image stabilization so this means you will get images that are still without shaking and distorting the images as my Panasonic camera did previously I own this camera and if you are interested in reading about it you can do so here in addition to purchasing the product .
