Canon PowerShot SD950 IS

This Camera Lives Up to the Pricetag

I recently received a Canon PowerShot SD950 IS, for Christmas this year. I am completely in love with this camera. While I am not a professional photographer, I do enjoy taking photographs. For a consumer line digital camera, it is perfect for all my needs. Here are some of the key features in things I love about the camera.

Battery

Battery life is important in choosing a digital camera, after all what good is a great camera with no power. Although the screen does use quite a bit of battery consumption, it is only really drain while reviewing photos. I was able to shoot over 200 photographs, and still had battery life left. A charger was also in the contents, and a full charge only took about an hour. I've had similar cameras, that full charges could take anywhere from two hours and up.

Quality Of Images

The image quality of the Canon PowerShot is nothing short of amazing. In fact, they are downright gorgeous. The camera is equipped with the digic 3 image processor, which is one of the highest-ranked processors for point and shoot cameras. All the colors seems spot on, and never seemed to show under saturation. The camera shoots an amazing 12.4 megapixels, which gives you crystal clear and sharp images. The processing power is only accentuated by the lens.

Image Viewer

like most digital cameras, the image viewer is nothing spectacular. You will never be able to see the fine detail of your photographs in the image viewer. However, I did notice slightly less lag on the screen, than I had seen in other digital cameras in this price range.

Design

Finally someone built a camera right. The Cannon PowerShot fits perfectly in your hands. The buttons are very easy to press, and are laid out nicely. After using a camera for some time, you will get to know the layout even better, and won't have to look at the camera to find the button you want. Shell is made of durable metal and plastic. It's light weight but not too light weight where you think it's cheap. Nice design.

Price

the camera is attractively priced around $250. I think that's a great price considering most cameras under $100 are junk. While a lot of people think that $250 is a lot of money to spend on a camera, it is a quality camera worth the extra money. It's going to last you for years.

Overall

If you're looking to upgrade your digital camera, or even buying your first camera, I strongly recommend the Canon Powershot. You really can't go wrong with this unit. If you're looking for high quality pictures, durability, and easy to use design, then this is a camera for you.
