Canon will launch six new digital camera models, each of the six - four PowerShot models, and two Digital IXUS models - is designed using the IS image stabilizing technology, and high ISO capacities.

Being equipped with the DIGIT III processor, face detection capability and red eye removal, the new Canon cameras are designed to improve technically the quality of each photo they take.

PowerShot G9 - the top of the PowerShot series, has a 12.1 Megapixel resolution, RAW recording, a 6x optical zoom and a LCD Purecolor II 3.0 inch screen.

PowerShot SX100 IS - the first model from the new PowerShot SX series, with a high quality 10x optical zoom, and a 8 Megapixel resolution.

PowerShot A650 IS - this camera, replaces the Powershot A640 model, and it has a 12.1 Megapixel resolution, 6x optical zoom, and a LCD 2.5 inch screen.

PowerShot A720 IS - will replace the PowerShot A710 IS compact model, with a new 8 Megapixel resolution, and a 6x optical zoom.

Digital IXUS 960 IS - is the new top of the Digital IXUS series, with a titanium body it can handle a 12.1 Megapixel resolution, with a 3.7x optical zoom, and a 2.5 inch LCD PureColor screen.

Digital IXUS 860 IS - replaces the popular Digital IXUS 850 IS, it has a large objective of 28mm, and an optical zoom of 3.8x, with a 8 Megapixel resolution, and also a 3.0 inch LCD PureColor screen.

The Canon Solution For Fixing Image Clarity

All six cameras, are equipped with an optical image stabilizing system, having the lens-shift function, a technology that was initially found in the EOS professional lens system. The company is certain that this system will offer the images taken a higher quality, and in the same time reduce the trembling effect of the camera. This differs from the normal systems which require an increased ISO value, the IS optical system from Canon corrects the way the light propagates when passing thru the camera, removing image distortion.

The second capability announced by Canon, is the Auto ISO Shift, which can be selected in order to increase the ISO value, and in the same time to remove the tremble effect of the camera.

The Face Detection and Red-Eye Correction

Canon says that, apart from the normal face detection systems that require a software program, the AF/AE/FE face detection is directly integrated into the DIGIC III hardware processor, providing a faster speed in processing the images.

The Red-Eye Correction function simplifies the problems of using a flash when taking pictures. This system uses the Face Detection system in order to ensure a precise correction in the taken images, avoiding correction errors that may appear with other related systems.

LCD PureColor and LCD PureColor II

The LCD PureColor screen offers an improvement in color reproduction by 30%, and in the mean time the LCD PureColor II allows a higher scale. Both screens can be clearly viewed from a large number of positions. A light protection cover, allows a good visibility in bad conditions, while another cover protects the screen against being scratched, or any other damages that may occur during the handling of the camera.
