Canton, Michigan AutoLab Won Me Over

An Unexpected Flat Tire Made Me Change Mechanics

Deborah Kolka
I work as a Sales Representative and spend a lot of my time driving between stores. Doing so makes me more dependent on my vehicle than most people probably are; as I cannot simply have a friend or family member drop me off at work. I have had the same mechanic work on my vehicle for more than five years, thinking I had discovered the last honest one left in my immediate area, but an unexpected flat tire gave someone else the chance to grab my business' and the owner of the Canton Michigan Auto-Lab took full advantage and won me over.

I had the misfortune of having not one, but two flats in one day. The second flat was my spare and I was lucky enough to be just feet away from the Canton Michigan Auto-Lab on Michigan Avenue. I walked into the store in the afternoon and asked the gentleman at the desk if they repair tires. He told me that his store could fix it for ten dollars if it was repairable and within 20 minutes they did just that. The friendliness and quick service got my attention. The service tech who repaired the tire also alerted me to the fact that I needed new brakes, which I wasn't prepared to replace that day, but told them that I would think about returning. The owner told me that he was currently running a special of $199 for all four wheels, which appeared to be a good deal. If memory had served me correctly, I paid about $50 more than that the last time I had just the fronts replaced.

The very next week, after giving a lot of thought to changing mechanics, I decided to return my vehicle to the Auto-Lab. I must admit, I was skeptical. My experience with auto repair businesses has not always been positive and I knew the price that is quoted is not always what the price ends up being. But, being grateful for them repairing my tire so quickly and being customer friendly, I decided to return.

After inspecting my brakes, the owner informed me that I would also need front rotors, an additional cost but that they could turn the rear drums. The estimated cost would now be approximately $250 plus tax, which was pretty close to what I paid for only the fronts with rotors the previous time I had them replaced, so I was still fairly pleased with the cost. The bracket holding my muffler had been broken for about 5 months, when my regular mechanic told me the cost for the bracket would be close to $40 with labor I decided to chance driving without it. The Auto-Lab owner asked if I wanted it replaced, I told him what I was told it cost and said I would have to wait as my money was tight right now. About an hour into working on my brakes, the owner came out and asked if I minded him replacing the bracket at no cost to me. I was surprised and thankful. Not only did I get a great deal on the brake job, I was given something free of charge. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

I am going to need tires in the coming weeks and I plan on returning to this Auto-Lab to make the purchase. You can't ask for a friendlier, more honest place to do business with.
