Canton, NC Church Plans Halloween Bible/Book Burning Oct. 31, 2009

Just when you think you've heard everything, here comes another fanatical Preacher who sheds a dim light on other Christians. No wonder it's getting harder and harder to witness to non-Christians who can rightfully point out all of the so-called Leaders in our Churches today and what they have done, going all the way back to Jimmy Swaggart's confession years ago. What I'm ranting about is something I just found out about on our local TV talk show, Scene on 7 in Spartanburg, SC. They had a segment on a church in Canton, N.C., Amazing Grace Baptist Church, who's Preacher, Mark Grizzard, is planning to have a book burning to be held Halloween, Oct. 31, 2009 at the church from 7pm-until.

What is he planning on burning? Get ready, all Bibles that are not the King James Version. How absurd is that? I clicked on the link section that was on Scene on 7 and found book burning, and sure enough there it was, printed on top of a blazing flame in the background.

All Bibles other than the King James Version, which includes NIV, RSV, NKJV, NASB, TLB and others will be destroyed by fire. The Church website Amazing Grace Baptist Church, states that Acts 19: 18-20 is their "scriptural basis" for the book burning. Acts 19: 18-20 states that "And many that believed, came and confessed and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts, brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it 50,000 pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed."

In addition to Bibles, the church claims it "will be burning Satan's music". This includes most genres of music from rock, pop, oldies, country and western, blues, Southern gospel, Contemporary Christian, to heavy metal etc.

If that isn't enough, the Church also plans on burning popular books written by "heretics" Preacher Mark states. The authors he's referring to are Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindoll, James Dobson, Paula White, T.D. Jakes, Tim Lahaye, Mother Teresa, The Pope and many others.

Next they state that if anyone has a book, Bible, or music they want burned they can call a number at the church and someone will pick them up.

To top it off, they will be serving Bar-b-Que and Fried Chicken and all the sides. Another 'bite' of information, pardon the pun, is that the Church only has 14 members. Thank goodness for that! There is hope.

Thank you Ginger for posting what happened, or should I say what didn't happen. I'm glad to know there was not alot of support for the Minister there. Thanks again.

and several others. A gentleman that was dressed in an outfit of a Nazi soldier came out%2C gave an interview saying this promotes hate. He wouldn%27t give his name and held two books%2C one was the Mormon bible and the other was not able to be seen. He did say that he was only wearing a costume and that is all it was. Protesters were unsure if he was there in support of the event or against it. Left most of us puzzled.%0D%0A%0D%0AWe are unsure if chicken and all the sides were served%21%0D%0A

Tonight the heavens opened and rain fell. Book burning didn't take place. There were several news crews, reporters, Sheriff and protesters. If I had been the pastor I would have been embarrassed that more protesters came out than members. There may have been books destroyed but when the flock left the building it was the woman and children first, only five of them and then the pastor himself. As the woman and children left he turned out the porch light, as if trying to hide their identities and turned it on and then back off when he left.

During the service it was said the news crew and others were listening through the floor upstairs and could here yelling from the service. The only disappointing thing was that more locals didn't attend the event. One came as far as Chattanooga, Tn and others an hour or so away. Was a peaceful event and most that were there didn't agree with this radical man!

There were signs that read things like: What would Jesus do, Who are we to judge and s

Even though I do disagree with some of the people he includes as heretics, I am concerned that the author of this article is too cozy with the world. "Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil "friendship with the world is to be at enmity with God".
My question is, Frieda, do you get this upset when a sodomite is put behind a pulpit, or a baby is aborted? My guess is you have a much more "live and let live" aproach with those situations. Typical liberal.

Gen. 18:25.That be far from thee to do after this manner to slay the righteous with the wicked and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee. Shall not the Judge of the earth do right?
It seems like the preachers who burns Bibles forget they are nothing more than a servant for the Lord.. And you sure are not serving Him by burning His word, whatever version it is.

If it's new, it isn't true, and if it's true it isn't new. No need for KJV to be re-written, only to change the words to suit the meaning interpreted by the person changing those words. Christian, beware! Use KJV only.

Wow! What is this world coming to? Thanks for the information, sad, but it's important to let people know what is going on.
