Bubble Tea, made popular in the 1980's by Japanese business men is Caffe Italia's newest product line. Featuring over 17 different flavor selections, ( 4 of which are proprietary to the location )available in both green and black tea variations. Bubble Tea, also known as "Pearl Tea" or "Boba Tea", are referred to as such because of the use of 1/4 inch colored and sweetened tapioca pearls commonly referred to as "Boba". The tapioca pearls are added to the bottom of the drink giving the consumer the unique experience of chewing while drinking. Due to the size of the tapioca pearls, a wide straw is given with each Bubble Tea to accommodate.
Why Bubble Tea you ask? When Caffe Italia's owner, Asif Zafar had first toyed with the idea of carrying the exotic Bubble Tea it was because the local teenagers requested it! Teenagers would come in from the neighboring indoor laser tag arena Zap Zone and would express to Zafar that if he carried it, they would come. Bubble Tea, Zafar hopes will allow him to reach into the younger demo graph.
In addition to adding Bubble Tea, Caffe Italia has also made a few other changes to the cafe. These changes include opening at 7am during the week for morning coffee, and introducing open mic nights.
Caffe Italia is located at 41985 Ford Rd. in Canton and is open daily for pizza, gelato, and now Bubble Tea.
