Canvas Wedding Love Poem

Alice Rovney
When Jesus paints his canvas sky

With colors from the rainbow hue

The beauty that I see therein

Reminds me of my love for you

And as those colors fade to black

Night's deep cloak about me wrapped

I recall your gentle arms

Guiding me just like a map

Pull me into your embrace

My heart does blossom like the rose

Because you've broken through that wall

Where all my isolation grows

How did you pierce my soul so deep?

Remove that cloak that smothered me?

You must have learned to navigate

Those places no one else could see

Did you know that I was there?

Before you journeyed to the deep?

And what possessed me when you came

To quickly take that risky leap

Perhaps I knew we two were meant

For traveling through these lands

Sharing smiles, tears, and laughs

Choosing that for which we stand

Perhaps I knew that next to you

That night's sky is not so black

Soft globes aglow that comfort me

Like when your hand is on my back

Yes specks of light across all time

God lights His lanterns in the skies

They shine and twinkle just for me

As do the sparkles of your eyes

Orbs of magic they set to flight

Robins, Blue Jays, snowy doves

Riding winds to thank our God

That you have chosen me to love

I promise from this moment on

That you and I will never part

While there is breathe inside my lungs

You will always hold my heart

If trouble brings it's blade of steel

I'll march out to the battlefield

I'll shout and push that trouble down

Commanding him this day to yield

So stop the clock my darling one

And share with me this moment true

When God has painted his canvas sky

Special made for me and you

Beautiful!! My wife Carol "pierced my soul" & removed the cloak". This touched me deeply. Thank you!

Alice, you have the poetess touch!
You prose is articulate and poignant. I have always enjoyed your words and emotions, and this is just more fuel for the fire that is your heart.
I bid you kudos for another worthy piece of lovely literature.
