Cape Town has a lot to offer. Contributing to the city's beauty, Cape Town is famous for its harbor and popular landmarks, including the flat-topped Table Mountain and the extreme southwestern tip at Cape Point. Table Mountain creates Cape Town's majestic backdrop, and the mountain is surrounded by near-vertical cliffs, Devil's Peak and Lion's Head. Sometimes a cloud forms over the mountain, which can be best described as a beautiful "tablecloth". The Cape peninsula juts out southwards into the Atlantic Ocean, ending at Cape Point. Tourists love to drive along Chapman's Peak, a very beautiful setting along a narrow road with views of the Atlantic Ocean and mountains. Sorry, California doesn't beat it.
Cape Town boasts some of the world's beautiful beaches. The more upscale, cleanier beaches at Clifton and Camps Bay and others along the Atlantic are better developed with cafes and restaurants. If you love penguins, check out Boulder's Beach near Simon's Town, and you'll run into swarms of African penguins. If you're a surfer, Cape Town is world-renowned as a surfer's city - a place to challenge and play in the giant waves.
Cape Town's Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, located near the famous docks, features a popular shopping venue with several hundred shops and a variety of restaurants. If you don't care for shopping, you can sit back and enjoy the view, or hop on a ferry to the famous Robben Island. The island is infamous as it served as a prison for many political prisoners, such as Nelson Mandela.
Cape Town's night life is vibrant, offering a wide-range of restaurants and cafes. Some of the finest eateries in South Africa can be found in Cape Town. Popular areas also include night clubs and bars, which are always popular amongst the young crowd.
The Cape Winelands is the largest wine producing region in South Africa. Popular are the towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek for day trips of sightseeing and wine tasting. The region is home to hundreds of cellars making it extremely popular for tourists and even locals looking to get away from the city. If you do visit the Cape Winelands, you will be guaranteed some of the finest wine and food in the world. Watch out for the beautiful Cape Dutch architecture, which is predominant in this region.
Whales can also be found in Cape Town. Many tourists flock to the nearby town of Hermanus or False Bay.
If you want a trip of a lifetime, Cape Town will not disappoint. It will intrigue.
