Capitol Punishment: 2011 Predictions

Capitol Punishment Will Be Live on Pay-Per-View (PPV) Sunday June 19th, 8 PM EDT

Spy Radio
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Randy Orton (Champion) vs. Christian

This match may not even take place due to Orton's concussion. If Orton is cleared to compete he should have no problem defeating Christian. Christian won the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules. Five days later he lost the Championship to Orton on SmackDown. Christian had the opportunity to win back the Championship at Over The Limit but fell short in the end. After losing at Over The Limit, Christian turned heel. Now that Christian is a heel he will get another opportunity to defeat Orton at Capitol Punishment. Even though Christian has turned heel I don't see him winning the Championship. Like I said before "Obviously WWE does not want Christian as Champion. Otherwise they would have let him remain Champion longer than five days". For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Orton.

If Orton is unable to compete Christian may be given the Championship. That does not make a lot of sense because Orton is really the only Main-Event Face Superstar on the SmackDown roster.

Winner: Randy Orton

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: John Cena (Champion) vs. R-Truth

It would be nice to see R-Truth win and make all the little Jimmy's upset, but that is highly unlikely. Cena just won the Championship on May 1st when he defeated The Miz and John Morrison at Extreme Rules. Cena will most likely hold the Championship for more than three months. R-Truth is in this match so the WWE Universe does not have to see Cena vs. The Miz again. I don't think Cena should win this match clean. If Truth loses it should be because of the referee's mistake. They can even name the referee Jimmy. That way Truth can continue to complain to the WWE Universe about a conspiracy theory that is taking place against him. Truth can argue that he should be Champion if it was not for the referee's mistake. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Cena.

Winner: John Cena

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Kofi Kingston (Champion) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Since moving to Raw Ziggler has not made much of an impact, he did not even defeat anyone to earn this match. Ziggler earned this match by dropping his manager Vickie Guerrero. Ziggler made a mistake by dropping Guerrero. Guerrero helped Ziggler win the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown. Kingston just won the Championship on May 1st, when he defeated Sheamus at Extreme Rules. It would not make sense for Kingston to lose the Championship this soon. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Kofi Kingston.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Wade Barrett (Champion) vs. Ezekiel Jackson

This is a rematch from Over The Limit. Jackson was able to win the match at Over The Limit but won by disqualification, allowing Barrett to keep his Championship. Barrett barley escaped with the Championship. Just as Jackson was about to win the Championship, The Corre interfered. Since Over The Limit The Corre has dissolved. Barrett walked out on fellow members Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater in their 6-Man Tag Team Match against Jackson and The Usos. Walking out on The Corre could end up costing Barrett his Championship. Gabriel and Slater could turn face at Capitol Punishment if they return to cost Barrett his Championship. Even if Gabriel and Slater do not return, Barrett will not have anyone in his corner to help him if things go wrong. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Ezekiel Jackson.

Winner: New Intercontinental Champion Ezekiel Jackson

MATCH: The Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio

This feud started when Alberto Del Rio's personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez accidentally ran over The Big Show with a car. Del Rio let everyone know that what happened to The Big Show was an accident, but Big Show did not feel the same way. Big Show returned and brutally attacked Ricardo Rodriguez. Del Rio felt Big Show's actions towards Rodriguez were wrong. That is why Del Rio let The Big Show know "bad things happen to bad people". That line has me thinking that something bad will happen to The Big Show at Capitol Punishment.

Del Rio needs to win this match at Capitol Punishment to hold his current position on Raw. Del Rio was a Main-Event Superstar on SmackDown. Since moving to Raw he has taken a step back to an Upper Mid-Card Superstar. If the WWE wants Del Rio and Cena to start a feud with each other, Del Rio needs to win this match. Since "bad things happen to bad people" it sounds like Del Rio has a trick up his sleeve that will guarantee him victory over The Big Show. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Del Rio.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

MATCH: Alex Riley vs. The Miz

This feud started when The Miz blamed Alex Riley for costing him his WWE Championship. The Miz continued to blame Riley week after week, until Riley snapped and beat down The Miz. The Miz is at a disadvantage going into Capitol Punishment. Since winning the WWE Championship, Riley has always been at The Miz's side. Even though The Miz will not have anyone in his corner he will win this match. The Miz needs to win this match by cheating. That way The Miz continues to look like the bad guy. While Riley looks like the good guy who could have won the match if it was not for The Miz cheating. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to The Miz.

Winner: The Miz

MATCH: Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk

These two men have a ongoing feud going all the way back to last year. Mysterio got the best of Punk at Elimination Chamber and Wrestle Mania XXVI. Leading to another match at Extreme Rules. If Punk lost at Extreme Rules he would have to shave his head. With some outside help Punk was able to defeat Mysterio at Extreme Rules . This lead to a rematch at Over The Limit. This time Punk was not so lucky. Mysterio picked up the victory at Over The Limit and shaved Punk bald after their match.

A little over a year later these two crossed paths on Monday Night Raw. The feud restarted when John Cena and Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk and R-Truth. One week later Punk got his revenge by defeating Mysterio in a singles match. One week later these two faced off again with Mysterio getting the better of Punk. Now these two will go at one more time at Capitol Punishment.

Going into Capitol Punishment Punk has the advantage. Punk has The New Nexus at his side. The New Nexus could easily provide a distraction allowing their leader to pick up the victory. However, Punk's status within the company is still up in the air. As far as I know Punk has not signed a new contract with the WWE. If Punk is not staying with the company defeating Mysterio will not benefit him. For those reasons I'm giving the victory to Mysterio.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Other Notes:

Most PPVs have eight matches. Since this one currently only has seven look for David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty of The New Nexus to successfully defend their Tag Team Championships. Another possibility would be for Jinder Mahal to defeat someone in a squash match.

I love the title and your way of making the predictions. Will be waiting for your results. However, I think Orton should not play.
