Captive Heart

A Song of Love

Candida Bohnne-Eittreim
My soul sought you
through long years of emptiness and pain
sensing your absence...
knowing that somewhere
you were waiting

My captive heart ached
seeking you
in sunlight and shadow
as I wandered the dim dusty corridors of time

Hungering, longing for the one soul
that made my heart sing
Happiness always just beyond the next turning in the road
As life's dance
carried me along its byzantine ways

Til one day..
I found you my laddie
and knew
that I had found home.

I have loved you all my days...
You laddie..
Who have taken captive
this yearning heart.

Each heartbeat an affirmation
of the bond that unites us in love.

I will love you all my days
through anger and pain...
through life's myriad treacheries,
will my soul reside within you

And at days end...
when deaths soft shadow comes a calling, my laddie,
my soul will fly free
unchained
to your loving arms
