If you own a car and drive on the road quite often, chances are you have ever seen people crashing their car and getting involved in an accident before your eyes. After what you have seen, you should have understood how important it is to have a car insurance policy protecting you. With this protection, you won't have to bother paying for the costs should something go wrong when you drive your car leading you to an accident. All you have to bother instead is how you can get to the nearest hospital or medical center as soon as possible and recover from the accident.

However, when you finally make up your mind to sign yourself up with a car insurance company, you will have to pay attention to quite a few important things. One of them is that what you use your car for really matters when it comes to the car insurance policy. Remember that you need to be honest all the time otherwise you may risk suffering from cancelled protection.

If you use your car to get you to your office or working place, you may often be required to pay more for your car insurance policy. That said, you are better off taking a mass transport instead whenever possible. Keep in mind that the further the distance you have to drive to work, the higher the fees you have to pay for your protection. The reason is quite straightforward. By driving further, you increase the chance of getting in an accident.

After what has been said, you may get tempted not to tell your motor insurance company what you really use your car for. It is true that this may save you several dollars. However, you are committing fraud if you do that.

Anyway, when something goes wrong, you will suffer great losses. Imagine that you experience an accident while driving your car to your workplace but you have told your car insurance company that you do not drive your car to work. Your insurer will simply argue that it is not necessary at all for them to cover for your losses. As a matter of fact, you have even given them the best opportunity to cancel your policy completely.

You may not agree with that and may think over getting a motor insurance policy for yourself. Nevertheless, the your car insurance agent is not to blame. This is even more so taking into consideration the following fact. In the United States alone, car owners often attempt to claim for coverage of expenses for nonexistent damages. Accidents are often staged and injuries are often faked.

A lot of researches have been carried out and they have shown that such fraud often accounts up to 25 or 30 cents of every dollar involved in a car insurance policy. Now, if you think about it, if half of the fraud in the US were wiped out in the coming years, you could expect to pay 12% or even 15% less than the amount you pay now for your car insurance policy.
