Car Review: The 2007 Saturn Ion 2 is Great for Anyone

My husband and I recently bought a 2007 Saturn Ion 2 and absolutely love the car. Previously, we were the proud owners of a 2004 Saturn Ion 2, and loved that car as well. There are some upgrades to the 2007 model that we didn't have on the 2004, like an automatic sunroof, and an On Star system, but the price of the 2007 was actually a bit lower than our 2004 version of the same car. The 2007 model had a sticker price of $16,500, and we paid $17,000 for our 2004 model. The newer model has an updated sound system with a CD player and features a plug in for your Ipod or MP3 player. This is a very convenient feature. Also, the CD player plays MP3 discs, so any Cd's we create can also be played in the car with no problems. The automatic sunroof is my favorite feature. It allows you to get a little sun and wind, without messing up your hair.

The car also came with a 5 year, 100,000 mile limited power train warranty which includes roadside assistance.

The 2007 Saturn Ion 2 is also good on gas mileage. I estimate that I get approximately 23 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. Our insurance is actually lower on the 2007 model than it was on the 2004 because of the Standard On Star feature. Our insurance company, like many other companies, offers a discount for vehicles equipped with a tracking device like On Star or the Lo Jack. The On Star Service is free for the first year with all new GM vehicles. We added the optional Directions & Connections plan from On Star for $9.99 per month. This gives us turn by turn driving directions and you can even record the directions on your On Star system and the car will tell you when and where to turn. The Directions & Connections plan can also give you phone numbers and addresses of businesses, and can even help you make hotel reservations. We also have the hands free calling feature. Our car has its own phone number and operates on a pre-paid minute system. The great benefit of this is that if you are in an area where you normally won't get cell phone coverage, your On Star phone will still work. On Star also offers a peace of mind. If our airbags are ever deployed, On Star will try to contact us using the in-car phone system. If we are not responsive, they will send emergency personnel immediately. They will know your exact location because of the vehicle's tracking device. On Star can also unlock your vehicle via satellite if you lock your keys in the car. This is a money saving feature and adds added peace of mind for parents of toddlers who love to lock the doors.

The 2007 Saturn Ion 2 also offers plenty of great storage compartments. There are 2 cup holders, a center console/armrest, a pull out drawer to the left and under the steering wheel, a compartment next to the steering wheel, compartments in each of the doors, the glove box, and a pocket in the back of the seat.

The car steers better than any car I've ever driven. You can actually turn the steering wheel a full 360 degrees, unlike most cars where the steering wheel stops at a certain point. The car also comes with driver and passenger air bags equipped with a sensor that turns the passenger air bag off if the seat is empty. This is a great, money saving feature. If your airbags are deployed in an accident, the cost to get them repaired can be outrageous. With the air bag sensor, only the driver side air bag would deploy in an accident with no passengers. This would substantially lower the cost of repairs in an accident.

We have a 2 year old son who rides in a very large convertible car seat. That seat fits easily into the center of the backseat and latches onto the car using the LATCH system. There is also room for 2 other small passengers even with the car seat attached. We've also had 3 car seats in the back when transporting our nephews, and they all fit comfortably.

The 2007 Saturn Ion 2 is an affordable car that will fit your needs, whether you are single, married, or a family of 5. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone.
