Car Reviews: The 2007 Acura MDX

Large, but Graceful and Sleek

Although each and every person looks for something different when they seek out a vehicle, it often seems that some needs are simply universal. Also, many needs seem to depend solely on the type of vehicle that a person is choosing. For instance, although one may like the more sporty look of a two door car, often times that is not so much of a concern when one is searching for an SUV. However, what if there was a vehicle out there that could bring all the different needs across the automotive world and combine them into one great vehicle? The answer to that question is the Acura MDX, and although it may have some flaws, it is yet one more superb vehicle from Acura.

What makes the MDX so great? One can begin to answer that question the moment that you look at the car. Although the SUV is a bit larger in appearance than some on the road, and definitely occupies a bigger space than the companies smaller RDX, it is nonetheless easy to see what has made the MDX such a hot selling model. The aggressive grill, angled front headlights, and smoothly flowing lines on the body all contribute to a car which has style yet which is not overblown. The MDX, perhaps more than anything else, represents luxury that is refined and yet subtle, and this combination of ideas is easy to see from the exterior design of the vehicle.

If the exterior of the MDX seems pleasing, then most will be happy to know that there is only more to like on the inside of the car. The luxurious leather seats and top of the line materials used to finish the inside truly give one a sense of luxury that seems to be missing even from cars costing far more than the MDX. The dashboard and steering wheel incorporate modern styling but refrain from making the driver feel as if he or she is in a space ship. Visibility is excellent all around, and there is plenty of space to be had inside of the MDX, although not enough space to make one feel as if they are driving a UHAUL. However, just one look at the inside of the MDX makes one realize that it is going to be a fun car to drive, and that, perhaps, is the single best feature of the interior. Even though the MDX may be billed as a luxury vehicle, it by no means follows the idea that luxury has to be boring.

Of course, the interior and the exterior of a vehicle can look incredible, but it is the way that said vehicle drives which makes all of the difference. As in all other areas, there is nothing not to like about the feeling of sitting behind the wheel in an MDX. No, the vehicle may not be as nimble as one has come to expect from Acura, although the overall comfort and driving fun more than makes up for it. The MDX rides incredibly smooth, there is little to no noise, even at highway speeds, and even though it may be larger, it can move when it wants to. Of course, whipping around corners may not be the best thing to do in the MDX, although it was not designed for that purpose anyway. The MDX is a great looking, comfortable and luxurious SUV that is designed to bring both utility and enjoyment to the every day driver, and it succeeds amazingly well in this regard.

No, the MDX may not be perfect, and the larger size may take a bit of learning curve to truly appreciate. However, for those who are seeking a great riding and luxurious SUV, and don't mind paying a little more to have a truly world class vehicle, the 2007 Acura MDX may very well be the perfect choice.

  • Great looking outside
  • Still manages to be fun inside
  • One of the best performing vehicles in it's class
Those who like the design and style of the MDX, but want something a bit smaller are advised to check out the Acura RDX.
